Job Title

Product Development Scientist, Haemostasis

 

Reports to

Head of R&D, Haemostasis

 

Purpose of job

Provide technical product support for Haemostasis Quality Control and Manufacturing for D-Dimer reagent groups as well as new product development activities support for same the product group.  This position will entail a high degree of autonomy, continual employee development and initiative.

 

 

Essential responsibilities

  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality Control, Customer Service, and identify key attributes, and performance aspect opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Analyze data from various departments to make formal recommendations.
  • Plan and execute scientific studies or experiments to support product release using advanced design of experiment techniques.
  • Plan and execute new product development activities to support/lead the introduction of new improved products to the market place.
  • Coordinate and lead root cause investigations in a technical forum.
  • Cooperate with other functional areas and groups within the company, leading by example.
  • Serve on ad hoc committees, such as Safety or Compliance, as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • A chemical/biochemical/biomedical engineering degree or an advanced life science degree to M.Sc or PhD level (or equivalent experience), with extensive experience in biological sciences.
  • Demonstrated competence in common and complex biochemical techniques and basic statistical concepts. 
  • A minimum of 4-5 years practical experience in an IVD industrial capacity such as R&D, Production/Manufacturing, or Manufacturing Support.
  • Experience in the following would be advantageous:   6 Sigma Black or green belts, DOE training, Root Cause Investigational training, knowledge of regulatory guidelines in IVD, new product development following Design Control approaches.
