Position: SOX Project - Assistant Accountant
Reporting to: SOX Director
Qualifications: Part-qualified ACA or ACCA or recently qualified
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Key Responsibilities
Implementation of Sarbanes Oxley The SOX Project –Assistant Accountant will play a key role in the implementation of the internal control requirements of Sarbanes Oxley throughout the Group. The successful candidate will assist the SOX Director to · Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of the company’s system of internal controls over financial reporting · Identify and correct deficiencies · Prepare management’s report on the effectiveness of internal controls · Liaise with the Company’s external auditors on the progress of the SOX project and the extent and timing of their testing
Other · Undertake all other tasks necessary to ensure that the company is compliant with its relevant obligations in the EU and the US.
Personal Attributes
The successful candidate will have experience in risk assessment, internal control and compliance and typically will have trained in practice or worked in the internal audit function of a large organisation. Experience of the roll out of the requirements of SOX in a multinational group would be a distinct advantage.
The successful applicant will be computer literate. Knowledge of an ERP system and IT application controls would be highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and an assertive personality are essential for the successful and timely completion of the project. Attention to detail will also be a necessary attribute of the successful candidate.
Willingness to travel on short-term assignments is also essential.
